SUMMARY:ACVPM CE Webinar- Shared Hosts\, Shared Risks
DESCRIPTION:The ACVPM Continuing Education Committee is pleased to invite the active members of the National Association of Federal Veterinarians (NAFV) to an upcoming continuing education webinar. \n\nDr. Christopher Lee will present "Shared Hosts\, Shared Risks". Dr. Lee will use a One Health framework to connect foundational and emerging zoonotic parasites with the animal\, human\, vector\, food\, and environmental factors that shape transmission. He will review core parasitology concepts\, host-parasite relationships\, and the epidemiologic triangle before examining longstanding zoonoses including Toxoplasma gondii\, Trypanosoma cruzi\, Baylisascaris procyonis\, Anisakis spp.\, Trichinella spp.\, and Taenia spp. Dr. Lee will then cover emerging\, expanding\, or resurgent concerns\, including New World screwworm (Cochliomyia hominivorax)\, Angiostrongylus cantonensis\, Echinococcus multilocularis\, Plasmodium spp.\, and Haemaphysalis longicornis. Emphasis will be placed on transmission pathways\, changing geographic risk\, prevention\, surveillance\, and the veterinarian's role in One Health and public health communication.This webinar has been granted up to one hour of CE credit by RACE.
